SHOCKTECH SFL 2009

/files2009/logos/shocktech.gif

Quelle: http://www.pbportal.de/media-files/1/9/5/9/0/sflautococker.jpg

The 2009 SFL

Painstakingly handmade in very small batches to insure the most stringent quality possible. A modern version of an old school classic brought back to life by Shocktech and the grand master of custom ‘cockers, Danny Love.

This time carved from single billet of 6061 aircraft quality aluminum. Shaved down in weight to claim the name SFL, all the while maintaining the classic lines of the iconic design built back in 1999 and earlier.

One difference you will notice right away is the ultra low profile screw-in clamping feedneck. By switching to this style of feed we are able to lower the overall profile of the gun even more than past models.

More familiar and carried forward from prior SFL’s are the p-block, shortened supa fly bolt, front block mounted vertical A.S.A., and even the original trigger pant is back. This gun also comes with our new .45 style slide frame, classic beaver tail, roller sear and rat valve.

Many of these features were ground breaking innovations 10 or more years ago. Now they are time tested, battle ready necessities.
With the back to basics game making a comeback and the rates of fire continuing to be lowered its time to return to the guns we all loved.

Quite possibly no gun ever has, or ever will shoot as straight. Certainly no gun is even close to winning more world championships in the woods than the SFL. So before you go pick up that 65 lb. 9 foot long mega death blasting, “I wanna look like a real mercenary” “I’ll scare you just by looking at my junk, woodsball gun”. Check out the SFL. It’s not about how you look in the parking lot it’s about how you play on the field.

Smart Parts releases Max-Flo S.I.S. air system at Paintball Extravaganza

Smart Parts releases the new Max-Flow SIS screw-in compressed air system for paintball at the Paintball Extravaganza industry trade show in Atlanta, Georgia.
Loyalhanna, PA - February 7, 2009 - February 5th, 6th and 7th, 2009, paintball dealers from throughout North America converged on Atlanta, Georgia for the opportunity to learn about new products, receive technical support and business training, and meet in person with their suppliers at the Paintball Extravaganza. Smart Parts chose the Paintball Extravaganza to officially release the new Max-Flo SIS screw-in compressed air system. Many paintball dealers visiting the 2008 Paintball World Cup were given a sneak peek at this new product and now it has been officially unveiled and is shipping to Smart Parts Authorized Dealers everywhere.

The SIS is the first screw-in style compressed air system to bear the Max-Flo name. “As a player, I understand the appeal of screw-in systems,” said Smart Parts President, Bill Gardner, Jr., “It’s just so convenient to screw it in and go, then unscrew it and put it in your gear bag at the end of the day. We’ve talked about making screw-in systems for years, but there was no way we would release a system until it was done right. We knew it would need to have all of the flow-rate performance, consistency, reliability and safety features associated with the name Max-Flo. We would have to build this regulator at a price that is affordable in today’s economy. We are so proud that our engineering and design teams did that with the Max-Flo SIS.”

Several key features set the Max-Flo SIS apart from competing products:
Preset Convenience - The Max-Flo SIS is preset to deliver approximately 800 psi compressed air or nitrogen to a marker, with no need to spend time at the tech table tweaking and adjusting - the Max-Flo SIS is ready to go.

Stainless Steel ASA Threads - “Remember stainless steel regulator bodies in the early 1990s before so much of the paintball industry was trying to cut corners? We do, because we used them, and we saw how durable stainless can be, and the protection it offers from cross-threading damage,” says Smart Parts Vice President, Adam Gardner.
Increased Diameter Fluted Valve Pin - While most screw-in air systems use brass or aluminum valve pins, these metals eventually dent, bend or chip under repeated use. The Max-Flo SIS’ pin is of a larger diameter and made of stainless steel. In addition to strength, the larger diameter and unique fluted design allows for an increased flow volume from the regulator.

Anti-Launch Neck - Screw-in style air system design must ensure that a regulator cannot be accidentally removed from a pressurized cylinder while the system is being unscrewed from a marker. Competing brands solve this by the use of high torque levels and thread-locking adhesives. These strategies can create dangerous situations. The Consumer Products Safety Commission has reported on the accidental removal of a CO2 tank in which thread-locking compound blocked the valve’s safety vent. Hydrotesters have reported situations of competing brand screw-in regulator necks becoming weakened or broken during removal for hydrotesting. The Smart Parts anti-launch neck design provides extended secondary neck threads deep inside the compressed air cylinder. Quadruple-redundant safety vents ensure that if the bottle is accidentally unscrewed under pressure, it will be fully vented long before the regulator can be removed. Because no thread locking compounds are used, and torque values are lower, the Max-Flo SIS is the only screw-in compressed air regulator that can be readily removed for TSA air travel compliance without violating its manufacturer’s operation guidelines. Smart Parts recommends removal and installation by a factory certified technician, training for which is available to team techs.

Low-Profile Fill Nipple - Keeping with the compact size of the Max-Flo SIS, Smart Parts has employed a compact, low-profile fill nipple. By using an allen-wrench on internal hex flats for installation, the fill nipple avoids the need for external wrench flats, and the height they add has been eliminated. The Max-Flo SIS fill nipple uses industry standard 1/8-inch NPT threads, allowing standard fill nipples to be used as a replacement, if needed.

High-pressure and Low-pressure Burst Disk Protection - Unified burst disk assemblies protect the regulator and cylinder from over-filling, and protect the player’s marker from high-pressure regulator leaks. “It amazes me that some of our competitors have released air systems without the protection of a low-pressure burst disk,” says Smart Parts director of technical sales, Hans Semelsberger. “It may help them to reduce size and cost, but if a bit of dust or if a worn seal causes the regulator to leak, they will end up feeding full tank pressure to the marker, which can be catastrophic. That’s a short-cut we’re just not willing to take.”

Made in the USA - From start to finish, machining of raw parts to assembly and testing, the Max-Flo SIS is made and supported by American workers in the great state of Pennsylvania. “When the paintball industry boomed a few years ago, other companies took profits and ran. We chose to invest in the future,” says Bill Gardner Jr. “We now have one of the most advanced machining facilities in the state with equipment that no-one else has outside of the automotive and aerospace industries. We can machine parts in-house for less money than everyone else in paintball who is manufacturing overseas, while maintaining tighter quality control. This is the reason we can make use of stainless steel components and the longer machining time they require to produce. The bottom-line is that we can deliver better quality to the player at a more affordable price, giving them the most value for their paintball dollar.”

JT Signs Sacramento XSV and Blues Crew in a Coordinated Team Sponsorship Strategy
Industry Leading Paintball Manufacturer takes a coordinated sponsorship approach to bridging the gap between Tournament and Rec-ball / Scenario play by forming strategic partnerships with two Industry leading paintball teams.

(February 12, 2009) Bentonville, AR – JT announced today the formation of strategic marketing partnerships with two world renown paintball teams; Sacramento XSV, led by Tournament Professional Rich Telford, and with the scenario / rec-ball team Blues Crew, driven my industry legend Mike “Blue” Hanse.

Together, these two teams, along with the strength of a stronger and revitalized JT team, form the nucleus of a targeted product development and marketing campaign to increase paintball awareness, increase player participation in all areas of the sport, and drive JT to the pinnacle in paintball performance for all paintball categories. “Historically, JT has had team sponsorships with both Blues Crew and XSV, which focused on each team individually in each of their respective fields of play,” says Chuck Geiling, Director of Sales and Marketing for JT. “Today, we are launching a completely new and coordinated strategy in paintball which harnesses each teams competitive drive to win and together, uses that energy to form a bridge between the scenario and tournament styles of play and promote awareness of the sport through the leadership of two legendary paintball spokesmen. The end result is to introduce paintball to new generations of players, mentor them into becoming active paintball enthusiasts, and have them enjoying JT products throughout their playing days.”

XSV owner and team captain Rich Telford comments, “We are very happy to be with JT again in 2009! XSV has been a part of the JT family since our inception and we are excited about moving forward with them. The JT products just keep getting better every year and I have no doubt this year will bring some exciting things for JT as well as XSV!” Furthermore, XSV co-captain Steve “Junior” Brown says, “We are so pleased that XSV will be representing JT in 2009! It is great to be part of a Paintball Family that really takes care of each other and I look forward to working together to create some of the best new products Paintball has to offer.

Michael “Blue” Hanse of Blues Crew adds, “Deuce and I are truly excited about working side by side with XSV and strengthening our relationship with JT. Rich and I have worked together in the past and his team is a top notch representation of the tournament side of paintball. I know we are both excited about partnering with JT where we will continue to bridge the gap between Tournament Players and Rec. Ball Players. That, and we cannot wait to run and gun together at CASTLE CONQUEST and other big game events this season.

PRESS RELEASE: NXe Takes Europe Direct

NXe (Scottsdale, Arizona) – NXe, the industry’s leading soft-goods manufacturer announced today, that it is going direct in Europe.

John Bosch, President & CEO of NXe commented, “Although we are in a global economic downturn, along with the paintball industry being hit much harder than most other industries and most companies would retract, we see a real opportunity in expanding. We are in the process of establishing a European entity. We had great distributors in Europe and this is in no way a reflection on them. We felt from a business standpoint, especially in the current economic climate, it would behoove us from a short and long term perspective to take the continent on a direct basis to the retail stores, e-retailers and fields.”

Bosch went on to say, “Mr. Ulf Mueller has been brought in as Director of Sales for Europe. This direction will allow us to have better controls on our brand management, as well as various promotional and sales programs across the region.

While we are in the process of setting up our European infrastructure all
inventory, shipments etc. will be handled by Max’s Sport in Germany.
You can learn more about NXe by visiting their website. For European inquiries you can contact Ulf Mueller.

Smart Parts introduces a new firing mode for the rental version of the Vibe

Smart Parts announces Billy-Ball for the Rental Vibe

Smart Parts introduces a new firing mode for the rental version of the Vibe electropneumatic paintball marker aimed at reducing rate of fire.

Loyalhanna, PA – February 8, 2009 – The new Billy-Ball firing mode available in Vibe rental markers from Smart Parts, Inc., restricts a players’ rate of fire, opening up more opportunities for paintball field operators.

“It’s pretty ironic,” says Smart Parts President Bill Gardner Jr., for whom the mode is named, “we’ve pushed the limits of marker rate of fire to meet player demand, but at the beginning levels of the sport that’s scaring off newer players.”

Gardner’s own sons were anxious about jumping in to walk-on games at Smart Parts’ home field, the All-American Paintball Park in Greensburg, PA.

“Most of us around the factory started out in the days of pump paintball, so we never faced that kind of intimidation, it was a different game with those lower rates of fire. We’ve had a lot of field owners tell us they needed a way to address it, and they couldn’t afford to keep a second set of pump markers on hand, while their more experienced customers want higher performance. The solution was easy, and it all boiled down to software.”

The microprocessor “brain” of the Vibe can be configured with custom firing modes tailored to a particular paintball field’s needs. The Billy-Ball firing mode allows the Vibe to fire at a rate of 0.5 bps, or one ball every two seconds, simulating the rate of fire typical in pump-action paintball games. The new mode was first tested at the All-American Paintball Park and met with an immediately positive response from the Smart Parts staff members playing, as well as visiting field owners who had an opportunity to try it out after technical training classes. More importantly, the mode was quickly embraced by groups playing paintball for the first time.

In its first month of use, Billy-Ball’s advantages in a rental marker became quickly apparent:
- Group sales, especially with younger players, are increasing as less paint in the air means less welts and less intimidation.
- Package pricing for Billy-Ball moves away from being paint-centered, to being facilities and time centered.
- The reduced cost of consumables allows for higher per-group profits.
- Increased rate of returning, occasional play customers.
- Fewer referees are needed to monitor a game with less firepower.
- Cleanup – especially for indoor fields - is easier with less paint on the field.

“Because of the lower paint consumption, we’re able to put together birthday party package prices that are more affordable,” says All-American Field Manager Tim Montressor. “When paint was a variable, parents were concerned about going over budget before the day is out. Billy-Ball has taken care of that sales obstacle. We can offer a per-child price for their party that is all-inclusive – it’s already making a difference in sales.”

Surprisingly, some of the more experienced regular walk-on customers have been spending time playing Billy-Ball games as well, using it as a tool to improve their communication, movement and snap-shooting skills without relying on high rates of fire to hold their game together. Even though they are renting a marker, these players are still saving money on a day’s play because Billy-Ball requires so much less paint. Not only does the customer save money, but the income the field generates is a return on its investment in rental markers, instead of money it must spend on buying more paint.

SP-1 markers purchased in field-rental quantities are also available with similar features and Billy-Ball programming. Smart Parts plans to make Billy-Ball available in future updates to most of its product line. This went out as a press release to all the dealers today and dealers at the paintball extravaganza learned about it as well. One thing that the press release does not mention… is that it is so much fun to play.
