Chicago PSP Thursday Announcement – Must Read/Watch

Chicago PSP Thursday Announcement – Must Read/Watch

The PSP’s Chicago Open is off to a rough start this year. The Chicago area is currently experiencing a severe storm and water has flooded out several of the fields. Read on for an official update from the PSP’s Camille Lemanski as well as two photos from our friends on location.

Update: Tyler Harmon of Sacramento XSV shares some video footage of the storm in action. Check out the lack of visibility!

Updated: Video from Tyler Harmon of Pro Paintball team Sacramento XSV

Urgent Update Regarding Chicago PSP

Please read entire message

After several days of severe thunderstorms pounding the greater Chicago area, the venue for the 2010 PSP Chicago Open has been greatly compromised. Late this afternoon, the mother of all storms came through and has left the site in a dire state. We will now need to perform much needed construction tomorrow to get the fields up and operating. Our plan before this last storm hit was to start 2 hours late tomorrow (first game at 10:00 am instead of 8:00 am). At this time, 10:00 am is the earliest that the first game will be played, but it could very well be later than that.

We are aware that hundreds of flights into Chicago have been cancelled. We will notify teams of their game times throughout the day through text messaging. We will be updating the website as often as possible with game times for friends and family to follow.

This intense rain has obviously created severe flooding and has turned the grass into mud in many areas. We will need your absolute cooperation in assisting us by obeying parking policies (1 car per team allowed in the venue, additional cars park for free next door at Balmoral Park and utilize the free shuttle services we will be providing). Do not try to drive up on grass areas without instruction from staff as you will get stuck and cause further delays with the event.

Teams are not allowed to walk fields thursday, as that would impede our crew’s progress in getting the event up and running. Attempting to walk the fields will further delay the event and anyone on the fields without permission will face disqualification.

We appreciate your understanding that our crew has been working 15-hour days in severe thunderstorms to provide you with the PSP experience you have come to expect. We need your cooperation in making sure we can all have a great event this weekend and thank you for your patience!

–END Message–

Photos were sent from one of our friends late Wednesday afternoon, prior to the latest storm hitting the area. One of the corners of the field is sunk in mud and what appears to be ruts from a tractor.

Coverage of the Hurricanes Tournament Series

Coverage of the Hurricanes Tournament Series

Pro Paintball correspondant Tim Barnard was able to give us a recap of what went down at the first Hurricane Tournament Series. Here’s the scoop:

The first ever Hurricanes Series Event was held at Camelot Paintball, located in Chicopee, Massachusetts. The Hurricane Series is a PSP regional affiliate, which was refereed by Division 1, New England Hurricanes. And running the show was Jeff Stein, who organized the entire event. He also had a car full of New England Hurricane T-shirts he was giving out which was awesome! Also Billy Bernacchia was on site helping out and watching games, and talking to teams and players. It was perfect weather, sunny and in the mid 80’s.

The refereeing was on par. Few penalties were called, no favoring of a certain team. The event ran smoothly, with the exception of a few mishaps like the air going down to the pits, which was resolved and play kept going. All the teams played hard and fought until the end, great showing of teams.

Standings after event 1:

Division 3 Race to-4 X-Ball:
1) TNN
2) 187 cRew
3) Worcester Legion
4) Boston Reapers
Congrats to TNN on the hard fought win. You guys earned it. Cannot wait until the second event, July 24-25

Thanks Tim. To check out more photos from the event, check out Tim’s Gallery

Iran Paintball League Videos

Iran Paintball League Videos

Recently filmed in the 1st event of INPL (Iran National Paintball League) held on 13-15 May 2009. All the teams in the videos are from the Iranian Pro Division. There are 8 teams in Pro Division of INPL: Datis, Persian Legend, Datis 2, Ariana, Swat, Giv, Tigers and Persian Stars.

Iran National Paintball League has a website ( www.paintball.ir ). Unfortunately the language pack is in Persian and the English part of website is currently inactive.

At the end of 2009 season, Datis took the 1st place in overall winning all the tournaments. Persian Legend took the 2nd, and second team of Datis placed 3rd.
The new season of INPL will start less than one month later (14-16 July). The 1st event will take place in Tehran (Capital of Iran).

Also, I must notice that all foreign teams are able to participate in our league. Registration for Foreign teams in Semi-Pro Division is FREE.

Thank you to ProPaintball insider Nima Razavi!

School of Paintball – Puerto Rico

School of Paintball – Puerto Rico

Pro Paintball has had the chance to sit down with the owner of School of Paintball in Puerto Rico. Pro paintball players such as Billy Bernacchia and pro paintball coach, Marc Lancia. Here’s what Robert Guzman had to say:

School of Paintball was created for those players that didn’t have a facility to develop their game to another level; with a combination of other elements that make paintball and all other sports a completed one. During April 2009, Robert Guzman, owner of Mindbreaker Paintball Field in Puerto Rico, was committed to change paintball. In the northwest side of the island, there were no facilities to meet PSP field regulations. To make matters worse, all the paintball fields were only open on Sundays. Robert began opening every Monday and Thursday to emphasize on techniques, good physical workout, and following up students with their grades in school; the goal was to have a complete player on and off the paintball field.

Having all that covered, Planet Eclipse started helping School of Paintball in every possible way. Planet Eclipse sent over pro paintball stars Marc Lancia & Billy Bernacchia to help launch the school. Billy & Marc set the students up in several situations and laid out several game plans and possible strategies for the game. School of Paintball works hard for a great paintball program, I am glad to have players that are students and also great citizens. These athletes don’t only play paintball they also help the community.

After all, we are all School of Paintball !!!

Millennium Series Bitburg 2010 Videos with Fedorov Interview

Bitburg, Germany hosted the second Millenium event of the year this May. Bitburg turned out much better then first event in Malaga, Spain. Malaga was filled with lightning, rain and wind. The weather was in Germany was much nicer, and all the teams were able to make it to the field. San Diego Impact dominated the whole weekend taking 1st place, followed by SK Moscow taking 2nd and Frankfurt Syndicate finishing 3rd.

In the first video at about the 5 minute mark there is an interview with Konstantin Fedorov, of SK Moscow and. He talks about why he left the Russians and how the team is doing now.
Update: It seems that there has been some confusion as to the interview and my comments above. As Gary Baum said below “He left over two years ago to play for Philly Americans and when his contract was finished at the end of 2009 he choose to return ‘home’ to Russian Legion”. So Fedorov plays for Boston Red Legion and SK Moscow. SK Moscow plays primarily the Millenium and Boston Red Legion in the PSP.

Interview with Notorious Paintball Team

Interview with Notorious Paintball Team

Tim Cerruti of PROPaintball.com recently had a chance to sit down with Mitch Jordan of Notorious, a division 3 paintball team from Washington State. Mitch shed some light on team Notorious and there seemingly unstoppable run in both the NPPL and WCPPL paintball series. Read on..

Tim: How did you guys do in the event?

We took 1st place at WCPPL #2, although we dropped a few individual games we won very commandingly which felt great because at the first event almost every match came down to the nitty-gritty with back and forth games, crazy calls, arguments and overall a roller coaster ride to 1st, so it was nice to just come to an event and play to our standards.

Tim: What was your team’s mind set going into the event?

Mitch: Our mindset for any event is heart, dedication, and determination.

Tim: What do you think was working well for your team?
Mitch: We really brought the aggression and were very consistent this event, it felt great winning our games with authority. A big thing for us is confidence with each other on and off the field, you can have a team of all star players but without that bond it can be your downfall.
Every game we come out with the same full throttle attitude, no matter what happened the game before it’s a new point and a new time to shine. We aren’t at events to party or dick around…we are there to win, all the fun stuff can come after.

Tim: What adjustments are you looking for going into the next event?

Mitch: We feel that it was a well rounded event but there is always room for improvement to keep us at the cream of the crop.

Tim: What do you think you guys weren’t doing so well?

Mitch: Well communication wasn’t 100% but then again there is always something we can work on, but there wasn’t any one thing that brought us down so we just gotta keep on grinding it out every weekend and improving on all the small things.

Tim: What teams were giving you the most problems, and what were they doing well?

Mitch: Every team brings to the field a new challenge, which we learn something from, especially because of the fact that we don’t have the luxury of practicing on pristine fields with competitive California teams every weekend so it’s a really great experience to come play these teams in the conditions we’re not accustomed to up here in Washington.

Tim: Is there anything new the organization is doing that you want to let everyone out there to know about?

Mitch: Continuous stride to make this a better sport for everyone, and planning on playing D2 PSP as well as D2 WCPPL next season.

Tim: Also is there anything you would like to add to close this interview?

Mitch: We’d like to thank PROpaintball.com for this opportunity and their dedication to our great sport and that we can’t wait for the rest of the season to unfold as we are hungry for that series championship.
