PSP World Cup Final 4 Scouting Report
PSP Scorekeeper Cade Coleman has put together several factoids for the top 4 Pro Finalist at the 2010 PSP World Cup.
Playing for 1st and 2nd place is Chicago Aftershock and Russian Legion.
Chicago Aftershock
- 5-6 during the regular season Prelims, with an Overall record of 7-8.
- Undefeated in overtime matches (2OT wins)
- Best finish was a Podium match win (3rd) in PHO beating Infamous 7-5.
Russian Legion
- 10-1 during the regular season Prelims, with an Overall record of 12-4.
- Have seen the PSP Podium twice with a 4th and 1st in 2010.
- Best finish was a Finals match win in MAO beating Impact 7-2.
Playing for 3rd & 4th place is Tampa Bay Damage and LA Infamous.
Tampa Bay Damage
- 9-2 during the regular season Prelims, with an Overall record of 12-5.
- Undefeated versus Semi-Final Opponents
- Best finishes were two 2nd spots during the PHO and the MAO Finals.
LA Infamous
- 7-4 during the regular season Prelims, with an Overall record of 10-6.
- Have seen the PSP Podium twice with a 4th and 1st in 2010.
- Best finish was a Finals match win in CHO beating Damage 7-5.
GI Sportz 68 caliber Paintballs
Earlier this week we learned that GI Sportz signed on as a sponsor of the PSP and would be launching a premium paint line just in time for World Cup. We caught up with former pro paintball players Steve Rabackoff and Chris Lasoya who represent the GI Sportz line of paintballs for a few details.

According to Steve Rabackoff, the formula for the GI Sportz legendary imperial paintballs is similar to what was used by top pro paintball team Avalanche during their prime. These paintballs feature an ultra brittle hard to see purple shell with a vibrant yellow fill. According to Steve, this new paintball has provided top pro teams like Russian Legion and Chicago Aftershock the edge they needed to move on into the final round.

Damage came back from a 4 to 2 deficit to win in over time against Dynasty. Both teams received 1 major. Very intense match up. Damage will move on.
08:50am - Infamous (7) vs. X-Factor (4) – Quarter Game 2
Infamous received 1 major while X-Factor received 2 minor penalties. Infamous will move on.

Infamous received two majors on the final point. Tampa Bay Damage wins the series title for the PSP. Along with the series title for the NPPL, Damage has two series titles in the same season. The last team to accomplish this feat was Dynasty in 2005.

Saturday Rumor Round Up:
A major disconnect between top pro paintball teams and their sponsors seems to be brewing. We’ve heard reports that Eclipse, Empire, GI Sportz, Sly and Draxxus are making moves in one form or another.
Russian Legion is rumored to be signing with SLY Equipment for Goggles and other gear and GI Sports for paintballs. This photograph of Russian Legion from Friday seems to all but confirm the SLY rumor.
Chicago Aftershock and Russian Legion are shooting GI Sportz 68 caliber paintballs at World Cup and word is they will continue next year.
08:00am – Entourage (5) vs. X-Factor (7)
X-Factor wins their first match at Cup and their record is now 1-2. Entourage has lost 3 consecutive matches and their record is 0-3. Aside from the penalties that the team received, 2 majors and 1 minor, Entourage had a strong match.
08:45am – Infamous (1) vs. Aftershock (7)
Chicago Aftershock has been shooting the new paintballs from GI Sportz and they seem to be working out very well. Infamous received 3 majors and 4 minors throughout the match.
09:30am – Impact (6) vs. X-Factor (7)
Impact’s Ryan Moorehead cleaned house on the dorrito side but had a dirty hang and started the game off on the wrong foot. Impact received 4 majors while X Factor received 1 major and 1 minor. When X Factor scored the 7th and final point there was 19 seconds in regulation play on the clock. X-Factor is now 2 wins, 2 losses. Impact is 2 wins, 1 loss.
10:15am – Aftershock (7) vs. Entourage (1)
11:00am – Impact (5) vs. Infamous (6)
This was a clean match, no penalties on either team and the clock expired. Impact is now 2 wins, 2 losses. Infamous is 2 and 1.

World Cup Asia
ABOUT WORLD CUP ASIA
The World Cup Asia (WCA) materialized from over 5 years of planning and execution. Held annually in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, the World Cup Asia is one of 3 internationally organized World Cup tournaments in the world of paintball. The other two are the World Cup - Orlando (USA) and World Cup – Paris (Europe).
E
very year, numerous international vendors make an appearance at the tournament, benefiting the country socially, politically, and economically. The tournament has been covered extensively by local and international media, including international paintball magazines FaceFull and Splat, and televised broadcasts by ESPN.
World Cup Asia has seen teams from countries such as Belgium, UK, US, Iran, United Arab Emirates, South Africa, Australia, New Zealand, Sweden, Guam, Philippines, Thailand, Singapore, and Indonesia. This year, with an expectation of over 40 international teams, and over 80 local teams, World Cup Asia 2010 is poised to continue setting the standard for paintball in Asia, with Malaysia at its heart.

As reported in part 1 of our New Paintball Gear Report, DYE is slated to release their 2011 paintball gear this week. This is the first look at the C11 jersey, courtesy of South American paintball team WAY OUT.
DYE Tactical Paintball Marker
PRO Paintball insiders suggest that DYE will be unveiling their new tactical paintball gear at the PSP World Cup. In conjunction with the head to toe camoflauge gear, they will be launching a tactical paintball gun. The marker, code named “REFLEX”, is rumored to be based off the Proto PMR, utilizes a more militaristic body type and includes picatany rail system for all of your lights, optics, and whatever other gadgets you can dream up.

, were crowned winners of the 2010 Champions Paintball League following an extremely impressive season in which they won both The Fuengirola Beach Cup and The Maxs European Masters.2nd Place went to last year's champions, SK Moscow
from Russia who finished the season in style by taking 1st place in Paris. The German team, Frankfurt Syndicate 
, took overall 3rd place, just missing out on 2nd place!Semi Professional Paintball League
1st place honours in the Semi Pro League went to the Russian team Art Chaos Moscow
who won 2 events along the way to help them secure the top spot for the 2010 season and promotion to the CPL for 2011!Joining them in the CPL next year will be Outrage Valence
from France, after narrowly missing out on promotion in 2009. 3rd Place was taken by a fellow French team, Vision PPC Grenoble 
.Division 1
Five Star Lleida, from Spain, finished in the top spot following an impressive season which included two 1st places at the Fuengirola Beach Cup and The Campaign Cup.
2nd place was awarded to Marseille Taz from France. The Greek team Dogs D'Amour Thessaloniki took overall 3rd place for the division.
Division 2
A very closely contested league saw the Swedish team of DOW Warberg take the top spot by the smallest of margins from Desperados Moscow of Russia! Both teams gained top 3 places at three of the 2010 events, DOW Warberg take the title by 1 point following the final event.
3rd place is taken by EXK from France who did not finish out of the top 5 spots throughout the season.
Division 3
The first winners of this new Division 3 format are Cologne Hurricanes from Germany!
The French team, Truands, finished in 2nd place with Russian team Volgograd Flying Circus taking 3rd place after competing in just 2 events; finishing 1st in both!!

New Paintball Guns, Gear & Rumors for World Cup, Pt. 2

Luxe 1.5 Paintball Gun
The DLX “Luxe 1.5″ is set for release at PSP World Cup. This is a revision release based on feedback Darryl Trent collected from Luxe owners throughout the season.
The changes include new eye covers with a screw to securely fasten them to the paintball gun. A second and more minor change is the new milling on the front of the gun removing the Luxe emblem. We anticipate that Darryl will have several unique splash anodizations and color schemes available. For a hands on look, be sure to check out the CP Booth at PSP World Cup
EMPIRE AXE Paintball Gun
KEE Action Sports will be launching the new EMPIRE AXE paintball gun. We had the opportunity to check this gun out in person at the Paintball Extravaganza in September and were very impressed. The AXE is the 2nd generation of the Invert Mini and features numerous upgrades and improvements from its predecessor.

Based on customer feedback, EMPIRE has equipped the AXE with an ASA (under the grip), tool-less bolt removal, and a larger area around the trigger and a quick change auto-cocker barrel. The EMPIRE Axe will have an MSRP of under $500.00. Stay tuned as PRO Paintball will be making a full review and evaluation of the new EMPIRE AXE paintball gun in the coming weeks.
MacDev Clone VX
MacDev has refined their popular MacDev Clone paintball gun. The Clone VX features re-designed VX Drive, Feed system, Software, and Regulator.

DYNASTY Paintball News & Rumors
New Direction
San Diego Dynasty spent the weekend practicing the PSP World Cup layout and trying different plays out. Leading them in this endeavor was Mike Hinman, both a former Dynasty player and owner of SD Aftermath. Earlier this morning PRO Paintball sources confirmed that Mike will be coaching DYNASTY’s Xball squad starting at PSP World Cup.
Roster Adjustments
Alex Fraige will not be playing in the 2010 PSP World Cup. Alex will be out due to a conflict with his schedule that was both unavoidable and unchangeable. According to PRO Paintball insiders, Fraige made every effort to find a way to make it to World Cup but ultimately just wasn’t able to happen. Rumors indicate that Steven Pitts (formerly of SD Aftermath) will be playing is his place.
New Paintball Gear
PRO Paintball insiders also learned that DYNASTY will be debuting the new EMPIRE LTD ZE Paintball Pants at the 2010 PSP World Cup. The new EMPIRE LTD Paintball Pants feature a new hip & groin protection system, a redesigned waist adjustment system, kevlar lined knee pads and adjustable cuffs. The 2010 World Cup PbPickEm is LIVE and remain open till midnight Oct 21st. User submissions will be updated nightly so everyone can see how their pick stacks up against friends and other paintball fans. PbPickEm is a completely FREE way to test your Pro team knowledge by dynamically picking game winners from the first Prelim game to the Finals. Planet Eclipse The Dail-E Download with Matt Marshall from ETV
Planet Eclipse is excited to announce we will be bringing Matt Marshall to the land of Mickey Mouse, airplanes, and Paintball for 2010 World Cup.
ETV will be releasing a new show, ETV The Dail-E Download, at World Cup. The 2-3 minute video clips will post at the end of each day.
The Dail-E Download will be hosted by Matt Marshall. Marshall is a former world champion paintball player, and the current narrator of the Planet Eclipse documentary series, Artifact. The Dail-E Download will feature Marshall conducting in-game pit interviews, breaking down games, and some game highlights.
If I’m honest, I have no idea exactly what we will get!

It will be a bit free-form, but it will certainly be awesome. Matt has an intimacy with pro players; There are players who have looked up to him from when they were young, plus guys who’ve played with and against him. That’s pretty much impossible to recreate. I’m excited to see what the videos end up looking like.
There is no other event like World Cup and I’m really looking forward to working with Dan, Brad and the people at Eclipse to bring ETV content to the players in the ever expanding paintball world who can’t make it to the event,

The new barrel is named the "Null" and is a mid-range product priced below $60 USD MSRP. New Paintball Gear Rumors for World Cup & on..
Pro Paintball insiders have been on the phone non stop digging for info on the new paintball gear launching next week. Here is what we have so far;
Dave Youngblood and the team at DYE are preparing to unveil the new DYE Tactical paintball line.
In addition, rumors are circulating that a new DYE NT2011 and DM11 are on the way. Sources suggest we will see an an addition to the NT11 line–with a body composed of something other than aluminum. Magnesium? Carbon? Composite? Will this be a repeat of the infamous DM-C? We’ll report more on the subject as more information becomes available.
Bob Long and the guys at BLAST are finishing up a Bob Long RIPPER Victory. Retail is expected at $1400.00.
SLY is introducing an S11 line of paintball goods. New paintball jerseys, pants, chest protectors, arm and knee pads and entirely redesigned luggage.

Tampa Bay Damage wins NPPL Vegas & Series
Congratulations to Tampa Bay Damage for their NPPL Las Vegas win. As always the run to the podium was hard fought. This event was significant in that LA Infamous, Tampa Bay Damage, Edmonton Impact and San Diego Dynasty were all neck and neck for the series championship. After a false start at NPPL HB, Damage decimated the competition in 3 back to back wins in the NPPL 7-man series and finished as the 2010 NPPL Series Champions.

The NPPL Presents the Las Vegas World Paintball Championship Webcast
The last leg of the NPPL tournament season is about to get underway, and players from around the world will have the opportunity to watch the best teams in the world compete on center court live on the free NPPL Las Vegas webcast.
For the next three days, the NPPL will be providing top-tier on-field coverage of the hottest games happening on the Vegas Strip. The webcast is once again hosted by famed paintball celebrity Nick "Nicky T" Truter, who will be giving both play-by-play and color commentary throughout the weekend. Nicky will be joined by a number of different celebrity paintball guests throughout the webcast.
Webcast coverage starts on Friday at Noon, with Saturday and Sunday's broadcast beginning at 9am. Registration for the webcast takes just 30 seconds for unlimited access to the world-class coverage of the best finale paintball event of the year.

Northern California was heating up this weekend and I don’t just mean the temperature. Driving from Monterey Bay, California expecting another great weekend of paintball with our friends from Washington, DBS Kids. I left at 4:30 Saturday morning headed for Sacramento on another long drive. I guess I didn’t get the memo but Oakland Blast, Sacramento XSV, and San Francisco Explicit would be battling one another all weekend at Capital Edge Paintball Park. Getting ready for Vegas seemed to be a pretty big priority this weekend because there were plenty of 7-man games being played.
CEPP offers a really cool set up at their facility where all of there tournament level fields are on the way to all of the Recreational fields and most of them can either be viewed from the parking lot and the players areas. Recreational and tournament players were glued to the action, watching in awe as some of the top pro paintball players in the game battled it out in the 7-man format.
I’m pretty sure at this moment I can confirm that Ben Heywood, snake player for Nor Cal Fuzion, will be joining the NPPL Pro division and playing with San Francisco Explicit.
Greg Siewers also seems to have made the move over from San Francisco Explicit to Oakland Blast. There is no reason to believe that this move will affect him playing with Chicago AfterShock in the PSP.
I’m going to be spending the next few days trying to figure out how I am going to get to Vegas this weekend, so that I can see how the final event of the NPPL finishes up. This whole year has seemed to be a pretty crazy one; the good came with the bad. With only a few events left teams are going to be eager to finish on top.
